Audition Information

The Twin Cities Girls Chorus holds auditions on a regular basis throughout the year. Most auditions will be held on Monday evenings prior to rehearsals. Specific audition dates and times are listed below in the "Audition Sign-up" form. Auditions take around ten minutes and are scheduled within the times listed. To schedule an audition with TCGC, please complete the form below, and TCGC will contact you with a specific timeslot and other information.

Who May Audition:
Any girl in grades 1-10 with a desire to sing. Everyone must audition each year regardless of previous TCGC participation.

The Audition:
Be sure to arrive ten minutes prior to your audition. Auditions are heard by TCGC conducting staff and are approximately ten minutes in length. Singers audition in a small group setting, completing simple vocal exercises that gauge a singer’s range, tone quality, intonation, expression, confidence, and poise. Singers do not need to prepare a solo, but they should be prepared to sing a portion of a familiar tune/song such as The Star Spangled Banner, Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birthday, etc.

Placement and Results:
The main criteria for a singer’s placement are ability and age. All qualified singers are offered the chance to participate in the appropriate TCGC ensemble, space permitting. Placement results will be sent out by US mail within one week of audition.

Tuition and Financial Aid
The Twin Cities Girls Chorus charges a reasonable tuition for the exceptional program of music it provides. In addition to tuition costs, some wardrobe, retreat, and tour costs are incurred. Detailed tuition information is available in TCGC’s current handbook.

The Twin Cities Girls Chorus has an established scholarship program to ensure that as many girls as possible get to participate in the program. Scholarship applications are accepted on a continual basis throughout the year. Scholarships are awarded in both full and half tuition amounts depending on the funding available. Scholarship applications are reviewed and approved by the TCGC Board of Directors based on the following criteria: Family financial need, Singer essay/interview, and Singer audition.
